BOYS NIGHT OUT: 2 BRO 2 FEEL

Iron Man 3 was good! It was ACTUALLY good! …Except for when I thought I saw that Australian actress from the final season of Damages and I got real excited, and then it turned out it wasn’t her and I guess I was devastated, but I still checked IMDB and it REALLY WASN’T her but I wanted it to be???? That was an ordeal… … Still … unrelated… but it made me realize that on the spectrum of HATE GOOPY-PALTROW or LOVE GOOPY-PALTROW, I’m erring on the latter (dat ending bro, dat ending). Every couple of months I come back to this list of records Leo (Guillermo Diaz) recites to Mary (Parker Posey) in Party Girl. In the scene, Leo has come home to find his record collection organized by Mary through the Dewey Decimal system. Here’s the scene. I wanted to post this a long time ago, but I kept doubting what I heard. I saw a couple of lists online, but they were neither in order nor 100% accurate. This is as close as I’ve gotten to what I think he says. Songs with a * are my absolute favorites. Links below on song titles!

Leo’s Set:

"You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by Sylvester* (“It’s gonna be cross-listed under disco classics and divas, male”)

"The Lover Who Rocks You (All Night)" by India

"Double Cross" by First Choice*

"You Sexy Thing (I Believe in Miracles)" by Hot Chocolate

"Hot Music" by Pal Joey*

"X" by Junior Vasquez

"Up Down Suite" by Madonna

"My Jimmy Weighs a Ton" by Jungle Brothers

"Eric B. is President" by Eric B. & Rakim*

"The Nervous Track" by Nu Yorican Soul*

"Sex Drive" by Grace Jones*

"Is it All Over My Face?" by Loose Joints (I chose the male version because that’s my favorite, but here’s the female version)********

"Saturday Night" by (And here’s where I’m not sure. Anyone got any clues?) (EDIT: Someone suggested "Saturday Night" by Schoolly D)

"Don’t" by Sweet Pussy Pauline (Bonus track for not knowing the track above: "Fee Fi Fo Fum" and another bonus track: "Hateful Head Helen")

"Activator" by Whatever Girl (I’m assuming he means this?)

"Flash Light" by Parliament*

"Genius of Love" by Tom Tom Club***

"You Used to Hold Me" by Ralphi Rosario featuring Xavier Gold

"Flip the Script" by Gang Starr*

Leo says “I Can’t Get No Sleep”at the end which I always assumed was in reference to "Insomnia" by Faithless (EDIT: Someone suggested it could be "Masters at Work")

I feel like britticisms will never stop talking about ‘Party Girl’, and that is a very good thing.

The costume part of Behind the Scenes of Bram Stokers Dracula, with Eiko Ishioka, who died in January this year. I’m seriously devastated by this, I watched ALL of ‘Mirror, Mirror’, just because of Eiko’s costumes, and most likely will sit through both ‘Immortals’ and the Spiderman musical. If more bold choices like this could permeate into mainstream blockbusters I could die knowing that I lived a good, faggot life.

Jurassic Park IV: The Hybrid. According to FirstShowing, the (original yet) abandoned concept saw “a secret genetics lab get involved with cross-breeding humans with dinosaurs, giving them problem-solving intelligence and the ability to fire weapons and fight crime, but controlled by human authorities.” Above is the concept art of one of the humanoid/dinosaur hybrids. [reddit] [buzz] [aintitcool]

MEANWHILE - I saw this yesterday and GAGGGGGGGED. You don’t know you DON’T KNOW how many times I think about this. Ever since I heard the rumour years and years ago I SALIVATED over it, and trust mama, lady gets HARD for concept art.
FUCK. THOSE. LAZY. FAT. MOTHERFUCKING concept artists who have the GALL to sit on this concept art for so many years and not make princess here happy. GET OFF YOUR ASSES IMMEDIATELY AND RELEASE ALL UN-FINISHED TRANSFORMERS IDEAS RIGHT NOW. I AM BEATING OFF ALREADY JUST TAKE ME HOME. TAKE ME HOME.

Did I spend the early hours of the morn, and most of today reading about legendary idiot producer Jon Peters? Maybe. Have I done this many times before? Definitely. I first found out about Peters when Kevin Smith discussed his involvement in the failed ‘Superman Lives’ with Tim Burton (I think about this so many of the available times in a day, guys). Peters was the nightmare Producer on the film, and the meetings Smith describes with this guy are… phenomenal.

I’m not sure what it is I’m fascinated by… do I deplore that there was such a high powered fool running a major Hollywood studio? Or do I admire him? I seriously think it’s the latter. I mean… it’s all the success without any of the work isn’t it? It’s bullshit artistry at it’s finest, and man I would have loved to have been there to put coke on a lady labia while pushing a bottle of scotch up her butt, or whatever it is they do at these parties.

"I soon found out what Guber had reason to be apprehensive about. Hell hath no fury like a co–studio head scorned. Guber and Peters were truly the odd couple of Hollywood. At the time they met, in the early 80s, Guber had everything Peters dreamed of: degrees from both college and law school (Syracuse, then N.Y.U.), a wife who was the heiress to the Isaac Gellis delicatessen fortune (and hence Jewish royalty), and a golden-boy career as a studio executive and producer (1977’s The Deep). What in the world, everyone in Hollywood wondered, did Peters offer Guber?

“Pussy,” Peters joked when I asked him. “Action. Great instincts. I know the market better than anyone. Hey, we loved each other. We were brothers.”

This is just one article. I’m seriously contemplating dropping real Marshall-Dollars on some more paperback buffoonery.
